Thousands of young Nigerians have been protesting for the past two weeks across the country, demanding an end to years of Police brutality and a reform of the Police force. Although the government has disbanded the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the police responsible for most of the alleged brutality, the protesters have remained on the streets.
Several casualties have been reported from recent protests which have turned violent, including last night’s shooting of protesters at a toll gate in Lagos southwest Nigeria by men in military uniforms.
