If there is any Nollywood actress that can act effortlessly in both Yoruba and English movies despite hailing from the South-South region of the country, that person is none other than the beautiful Rachel Oniga. Sadly, Nollywood lovers would no longer be seeing the multi-lingual veteran actress in her elements as she passed away to the great beyond.
According to reports, the actress died of a heart-related ailment she has been battling for months now. Crediting her son, Olatunji reports that she was being treated for typhoid and malaria in a hospital in Lagos, which worsened her heart-related illness. After fighting for her life for a few days, she finally gave up the ghost on Friday night around 10 pm on July 30 of 2021.
News of her sudden passing came as a shock to many of her colleagues who met with her recently and revealed she shot a few movie scenes at Mowe, Ogun State, last week of July and showed no signs of being sick and never even mentioned to anyone that she was battling a heart-related illness.
At the time of her passing, the divorced mother of three and grandmother was only 64 years of age which she celebrated in May of 2021.
As news of Rachel Oniga’s death hit the headlines, both Nollywood fans and her colleagues were thrown into a mourning fit. They take to their various social media pages to weep and laud her for giving Nigerians some of the best Yoruba and English movies ever.
